Caroline Besse explore la vibration sensible des couleurs, se tenant à l’écoute des intensités traversant les matières, celle d'un médium rare et celle du corps perceptif. Elle invente une matière, mêlant aux procédés occidentaux la fluidité de l’encre de Chine et la peinture aux minéraux broyés sur papier japonais. Elle propose un art hybride entre l'objet de galerie et la fresque sur-mesure, des pièces uniques pensées pour un espace donné et pour créer une ouverture de la perception.

Caroline Besse s'est formée au métier de peintre décorateur avec les techniques Vanderkelen, et obtient son diplôme de l'Instep avec les félicitations du jury en 1995. Elle débute sa carrière par 5 ans à Bordeaux et la poursuit depuis 20 ans à Paris. Caroline a fait évoluer son savoir-faire des fresques et décors peints traditionnels avec l'apprentissage des techniques orientales. Dans la tradition Chan, elle expérimente des pratiques qui placent le corps au centre d’échanges entre monde extérieur et monde intérieur et découvre la matière picturale des minéraux broyés. Elle enrichit sa recherche personnelle sur la perception de la couleur avec l'approche de Goethe et de Steiner.

Depuis plus de vingt ans, Caroline Besse a intégré dans sa démarche les préoccupations environnementales qui soucient nos contemporains.
Le respect et le choix des matières naturelles - couleurs, liants, colles et papiers - sont consubstantielles à sa démarche artistique.

ABOUT

Caroline Besse explores the sensitive vibration of colors, perceiving the intensity of a rare medium : crushed minerals. She has invented a new pictorial substance, mixing western and eastern techniques and using the fluidity of Chinese ink with crushed minerals on Japanese paper. Her work lies between pure research, the creation of series of paintings and custom orders from renowned architects and decorators : unique pieces designed for particular spaces, intended to open perception of colors.

After training in the Vanderkelen techniques, she has developed a knowledge of traditional murals by starting her career with 5 years in Bordeaux and working in Paris for 20 years. Caroline has evolved her knowledge of traditional frescoes and painted decorations with the learning of oriental techniques. She has been immersed in the Chan tradition and in experimental practices that place the body at the center of exchanges between the external and internal worlds. She also discovered the pictorial material of crushed minerals, offering spectacular and vibrant colors. Then, she enriched her personal research on the perception of color with the western approach of Goethe and Rudolf Steiner.

Since the beginning of her career, Caroline Besse has developed an eco-responsible approach and a deep concern for the raw materials she uses.  The choice of natural materials - colors, binders, glues and papers - are consubstantial to her artistic approach.

Training in Chinese calligraphy, Buddhist sacred painting during 9 retreats at the Chinese temple of Bodhgaya in North India, ink painting and Chinese calligraphy with Ines Igelnick and Michelle Billaud based on "The way of ink" by Ung No Lee, Byzantine icon writing with Father Egon Sendler in Versailles, Japanese painting with Nihonga minerals, Western Hauschka-Steiner-Goethe watercolour method.
